Special Note: I seem to have lost track of a review or two, for which I deeply apologize. If you've sent me a review or a reqest for a review, please resend that information.
I was wary of it at first. I mean trying to depict the camps is pretty risky, and I didn't know her work very well, and you have to trust someone not to be a total shallow wader or gratuitous tear jerker when they venture into such sensitive territory. Well I think she did a f***ing awsome job. She concentrated on the female voice--what it means to have it and have it taken away. She ties Gabrielle, Christianity, Holocaust and the power of the Voice together into a whole I could recognise myself in. Hope that whispers into the worst despair. Read it!
